On July 10, 1975, Representative Sherman W. Tribbitt marked into law Senate Bill 487 which made the Delaware Department of Revision, viable July 1, 1975. The bill moved the Divisions of Adolescent and Grown-up Amendment from the Department of Wellbeing and Social Administrations to the new Department of Rectification.

The Department was statutorily settled under 29 Delaware Code, c. 89 and 11 Delaware Code, c. 65. 11 Del. C. §6501 sets up the Department of Redress, and 11 Del. C. §6502 distinguishes the reason for the department.

In 1984, the Division of Adolescent Adjustment was moved to the Division of Youth and Family Administrations. The main adolescents right now detained under the Department's supervision are at Sussex Restorative Foundation in the Young Criminal Offender Program (YCOP) which deals with the most troublesome energetic offenders. Adolescents may likewise be regulated by Probation and Parole.
