The Butler County Jail started out in 1984.
Then in the early 2000s, the Butler County Jail underwent many expansions that increased how many inmates they can house. As of right now, the Butler County Jail can comfortably house up to 183 inmates. All inmates who are housed in the Butler County Jail were arrested throughout Butler County by law enforcement.

Sending a Mail/Care Package
First and foremost, inmates are permitted to send and receive letters while they are in Butler County Jail.
You can also send inmates clothing as well. What kind of clothing you may ask? The following articles of clothing will be accepted:

When sending clothing to an inmate, you will need to send it from an online retailer. These articles of clothing cannot come from your own personal address. If you ship the package from your own address, it will be refused.

Sending Money
To deposit money into an inmate's phone account or their commissary account, you will need to create an account with PayTel.
You can deposit money online or you can come on down to the Butler County Jail and use the kiosk that is conveniently located in the lobby. The lobby will accept cash, credit, and debit card payments.
Phone calls
The Butler County Jail used Paytel for their phone service.
What does this mean for you?
You do not have to worry about collect calls, like the old days. Of course, the inmate will have the opportunity to make a collect call, if needed as well.
But, with the Butler County Jail using Paytel you will have an easier time keeping up to date with when their phone account needs money, how the money is being used, and who the inmate is calling.
Inmates in the Butler County Jail will only be permitted to have a 15-minute in length phone call, so everyone gets a chance to use the telephones.
Visitation
The Butler County Jail knows you need some face to face time with your loved one who is in their custody.
Therefore, the Butler County Jail permits you to have two free lobby visits per calendar week. However, you will only be able to cash in on one per day. These free visits will only last 15 minutes in length.
You will be required to schedule your visit with a minimum of 24 hours in advance. The scheduled visit will then have to be confirmed by the inmate prior to it being set in stone.
All on-site visits at the Butler County Jail will happen on Friday between the hours of 1 pm to 4 pm or during the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 8 am to 11 am and then again during 1 pm to 4 pm.
You should also know that you will not have any contact with the inmate. All visitation at the Butler County Jail is strictly through video calls. This is known as a non-contact visit.
