Sending a Mail/Care Package

All inmates of the Orleans Parish House of Detention may send and receive postcards only through the U.S. Postal Service.

Visitation

Inmates are allowed one 15-minute visit on their visitation day. Three visitors are allowed for each inmate at one tie. A valid ID is required from each visitor. Visitation is a first-come, first basis.

Visitation hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 9 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

All visits are non-contact and through a glass window. The inmate and visitor will speak through a phone. All visits are monitored by staff.

The Orleans Parish House of Detention staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for visitation.

Any undergarments that are showing

Shorts and skirts that are above the mid-thigh

Clothing promoting gang affiliation
Anything displaying drugs, weapons or profanity
Clothing depicting anything obscene
