The Mineral County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located in Hawthorne, Nevada and was built in 1993. This county jail is operated locally by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office and holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

All inmates of the Mineral County Detention Center may send and receive postcards only through the U.S. Postal Service.

A return address and full name is required for all mail sent to the facility. If no name or return address is present, the mail will be discarded.

Inmates may receive paperback books; however, they must be brand new and sent from the publisher or bookstore where the book was purchased. Materials of a sexual or violent nature are not permitted and will be returned to sender.

Visitation

Inmates are allowed one 15-minute visit on their visitation day. Three visitors are allowed for each inmate at one tie. A valid ID is required from each visitor. Visitation is a first-come, first basis.

Visitation hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 9 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

All visits are non-contact and through a glass window. The inmate and visitor will speak through a phone. All visits are monitored by staff.

The Mineral County Detention Center staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for visitation.

The following clothing is inappropriate for visitation:


Any clothing that is too revealing
see-through material
Any undergarments that are showing

Shorts and skirts that are above the mid-thigh

Clothing promoting gang affiliation
Anything displaying drugs, weapons or profanity
Clothing depicting anything obscene
