The Overton County Jail was constructed in 1978. When the Overton County Jail was constructed it was under Sheriff L. Ray Patterson’s careful watch.

Throughout the years, the Overton County Jail expanded and expanded again. As of today, Overton County Jail can comfortably hold 155 inmates.

Sending a Mail/Care Package

Inmates can receive letters, while they are in the Overton County Jail. But you should refrain from your letters having any of the following subject matters:

  • Physical Violence

  • Gruesome Subject Matter

  • Sexual Acts

  • Sexually Explicit Images

If your letter has any of the following, it will be discarded, and the inmate will not be given it.

Inmates may also receive soft-sided Bibles. The only catch for sending a Bible to the Overton County Jail is they will need to be sent to the facility from the supplier and/or publisher.

Inmates can also receive tennis shoes as well, but just like the Bibles, they will need to be sent to the Overton County Jail from the supplier and/or publisher.

All other packages and items will need to be approved by the Jail Administration prior to you sending them.

Phone calls

Inmates do not have many privileges in the Overton County Jail, but one of their main ones is being able to use the telephone to call home.
