The Dimmit County Jail is a medium-security detention center located in Carrizo Springs, Texas and was built in 1993. This county jail is operated locally by the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office and holds inmates who are awaiting trial or sentencing.

The mission of the Dimmit County Sheriff’s Office is to “ensure fair and equal administration of the law, preserving public safety and doing so with professionalism and unity of purpose, while being good stewards of the public’s trust.”

Dimmit County Jail houses 95 inmates daily, and employs one captain, one lieutenant, seven sergeants, 28 detention officers, and one medical personnel.

A return address and full name is required for all mail sent to the facility. If no name or return address is present, the mail will be discarded.

Inmates may receive paperback books; however, they must be brand new and sent from the publisher or bookstore where the book was purchased. Materials of a sexual or violent nature are not permitted and will be returned to sender.

Inmates are allowed one 15-minute visit on their visitation day. Three visitors are allowed for each inmate at one tie. A valid ID is required from each visitor. Visitation is a first-come, first basis.

Visitation hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 9 PM and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

All visits are non-contact and through a glass window. The inmate and visitor will speak through a phone. All visits are monitored by staff.

The Dimmit County Jail staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for visitation.

Any undergarments that are showing

Shorts and skirts that are above the mid-thigh

Clothing promoting gang affiliation
Anything displaying drugs, weapons or profanity
